Convention 2000

The Trails Head Chapter of the Oregon-California Trails Association is proud to host the organization's 18th Annual National Convention August 7-12, 2000, in Kansas City, Missouri.

The event begins with opening ceremonies at the National Frontier Trails Center in Independence, Missouri. The Trails Center features many displays, period artifacts and trail diaries and is also home to the Merrill J. Mattes Research Library as well as being located just minutes away from 12 historical sites.

Featured at the convention will be numerous fascinating speakers and workshops on topics ranging from mapping to archeology. Several guided tours will be available to the Westport/Independence areas and around Kansas City, Missouri.

The convention finale will be a Kansas City barbeque hosted at the Arabia Steamboat Museum, located adjacent to the historical City Market Area. The museum features a recovered 1856 steamboat and extensive artifact displays of its cargo.
